Stichting Nieuwe Helden creates art projects and actions for public spaces
Stichting Nieuwe Helden (New Heroes Foundation) is a growing network of creators that develops - international- art projects and actions for public spaces.
Stichting Nieuwe Helden is a movement of creators that, with a small fixed core and an international network of creators, works to realize art projects for public space in a continuous effort to create a space in which people can share their mortality.
We speak of creators, meaning people from every discipline and background who participate in the projects of Nieuwe Helden. Creators are not necessarily ‘artists’. They are people with the talent and drive to think of and/or set up projects from their particular background.
We speak of a movement and network, because we believe in the continuous interaction between creators and between creators and audience. Creators from our network are deployed per project. The network is concentrated in an online platform called The Club. It provides creators with the possibility to communicate with each other and audiences both within and outside the different projects.
We speak of projects, because we develop concepts that are interdisciplinary, consist of several components, spread over different time parameters, supported by multiple partnering organizations, followed by various media and are created and executed by several creators. A project is by definition an overall/total concept that extends further than the single show, installation or performance. The projects address a specific audience and use every art(form) necessary to reach and touch this audience.
We speak of public space, meaning every place in our society where people can meet, regardless of privacy or background. It is the place where society is performed, exhibited and where art has an important task.
